On 15th February 2020, The Labone, Legon, Gye Nyame and Ashesi Leo Clubs with the support from the Accra Golden Lions Club and other supporting Lions, painted the Eye Clinic, X-ray Centre and Eyes, Nose and Throat department (ENT) and also donated items to the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital Accra.
The Leo Clubs are youth arm of Lions Club International. They are fervent young people who realize the power of action in serving. The Leos have developed into a dynamic force by providing service and kindness to their communities and the world at large.
Donations to the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital Accra, is a yearly activity organised by the Labone Leo Club in collaboration with other Leo Clubs to put smiles on the faces of the children. They donated toiletries, drinks, chocolates biscuits and many more in the month of love. This year seems to be exceptional as they painted some selected places such as the Eye Clinic, X-ray Centre and Eyes, Nose and Throat department (ENT).
During the painting activity, they educated parents in and around the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital on childhood cancer; what it means, the common types, causes, symptoms, risk factor, Diagnoses, treatment/cure and preventions.
The president of the Labone Leo Club, Leo Rita, on behalf of the clubs presented the items to the nurses in charge. She stated that, it is their joy to support the hospital and the kids every year. She pledged that with the help of other Leo clubs, there would be an improvement in donating to the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital Accra in the coming years.
The Lions Club is an international non-political service organization whose mission is to empower volunteers to serve and help their communities, meet humanitarian needs, to promote peace and understanding globally. It is a home where individuals notwithstanding their status, come together to give their valuable time and efforts for the improvement of their communities and the world at large.
