Depsocom Director Pays Courtesy Visits To Secam And Ncs

The newly appointed Director of the Department of Social Communications of the Accra Archdiocese (DEPSOCOM Accra), Rev Fr. Blaise Bobi – Attachie paid courtesy calls to the Secretariat of Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM), and the Executive Director for the Department of Social Communications of the National Catholic Secretariat (NCS) to officially introduce himself and engage in other interactions that will aid in his line of work.

At SECAM, Fr. Attachie was welcomed by Rev. Fr. Henry Terwase Akaabiam, the Secretary General. Also present were Rev Fr. Jean Germain Rajoelison, the Deputy Secretary General responsible for the Justice, Peace and Development Commission and Rev Fr. Rafael Simbine, Deputy Secretary General in charge of the Evangelization Commission. They expressed delight at the effort of Fr. Attachie to visit the Secretariat and noted that it was the first time that they had received such a visit from an official of the Archdiocese.

Fr. Akaabiam commended the Archdiocese of Accra for the support given and asked that such acts should not cease. He further explained that, dissemination of news is usually done from the regional headquarters in Abuja through the various national Bishops’ Conferences before reaching individual dioceses making the process a bit time consuming; all the same, they looked forward to working with DEPSOCOM.

At the National Catholic Secretariat (NCS) Very Rev Fr. Dieu Donne Davor, the Executive Secretary for DEPSOCOM (National) was also pleased to be honored a visit by the newly appointed Director. He assured the Director of his readiness and support towards the growth of the Department and most especially the creation of the new television channel for the Catholic Church in Ghana. He advised that the staff should be offered in- service training to improve upon their skills and abilities. Even though the task might seem difficult, he said Accra has the best platform to do greater things with the opportunity on ground i.e. the creation of the television channel for the Church.

Both sides were glad the visit came through and pledged to support each other in diverse ways to promote the work of evangelization.
