Day 2: Make a Plan

It is often said that when we fail to plan, we plan to fail; therefore for us to be successful in this walk with God this season, we need to plan. God is ever merciful, regardless of our sinfulness and wretchedness. He does not give up on us; rather, He opens His arms wide and invites us to come back to Him after our many falls. We should not take this for granted, but put in a lot of effort to make it worth the while. How should we do this?

Before you fast, you need to decide:
🙏🏽How long you will fast for: 6am-6pm? 6am-3pm? Or 6am-12noon. Decide on this and purposefully follow through. Note that before we do dry fasting, we need permission from our spiritual director or our priest.

🙏🏽What physical or social activities you will restrict

🙏🏽How much time each day you will devote to prayer and God’s Word. Without prayer and the Word, your fast will just be a hunger strike and will not yield much result.

ALL this must be planned a night before. Making these commitments ahead of time will help you sustain your fast when temptations and life’s pressures tempt you to abandon it. Remember, God is walking with you to strengthen you.
