Afram Plains Development Union Donates to Ademmra St. Mary’s Vocational School

Members of Afram Plains Development Union (APDU) were at Ademmra St. Mary’s Vocational Institute to donate some pieces of Nose Mask

The group which was led by Mr. Fuseni Mohammed Aminu advised that all the Nose Mask must be washed with soap under running water, properly dried in the open and ironed before usage.
He also cautioned that these are “Personal Re-Usable Nose Mask” and not to be shared with friends. “There is nothing like sharing is caring” in using these Nose Mask.
The purpose is to help minimize the spread of the virus and not help spread it rather, hence sharing with friends will defeat it’s intended purpose, he added.

Other members of the group who joined were Mr. Asiamah Louis, Miss Sowah Agnes Naa Adjeley, Mr. Loglo Mawuli and Bro. Issah Alhassan.

The Staff and students of the school were very appreciative of the kind gesture extended to them and encouraged the group to continue to remember them in their future activities.

Rev. Sister Biga  who heads the school indicated that many a times people see the school as “a Roman School” and so don’t donate to it. She therefore called on all such groups to disabuse their minds and help the school to become stronger.

St. Mary’s Vocational Institute is the only Vocational school in the whole of Afram Plains giving skills training to the youth in Fashion Desing, Catering and Textile and Secretarial as electives and the core subjects are made up of English Language, Mathematics, Social Studies and Integrated Science. others which enable the youth to be ready for job right after completion. This calls for more support for the school in order to help reduce unemployment in the district.

Established in 1999 by the Catholic Church, the institute helps women in the district, especially those who have never been to school or are school dropouts to acquire skills.
