A walk with God, Day 19: Prayer
In this privileged season of Lent, we are called to the discipline of prayer, fasting, alms-giving and penance. Among these, prayer is paramount. Through prayer, God reveals Himself, His plans and some mysteries to us; thus our conscience is educated to make the right judgments. Prayer also creates a very conducive atmosphere in which God empowers us and gives us the grace to properly and obediently carry out the other lenten disciplines.
We are connected to the divine through prayer. Therefore in this season, we need to pray and pray more because it gets us away from indifference and makes our hearts sensitive to the things of God. It is imperative, therefore, that we pray and pray more. Just as we make time to carry out our plans for each day, we must also make time to pray and not leave it to chance. How often do you add ‘Prayer time’ to your to-do list and dedicate that time within the day solely to pray?
During Lent, we seek to conform our will to that of God; thus we cannot do without prayer which offers us an opportunity to tap into the strength of God to be able to battle or wrestle with the devil. What on earth will make a Christian choose to be defeated when he/she has all the weapons of heaven at their disposal. We only have to go on our knees and ask our loving Father, in prayer.
