Pope Francis at the Angelus: The mafias are getting rich from the pandemic

In Italy the day was celebrated for the victims of the mafia and that is why Francis spoke about this problem at the end of the Angelus.

Mafias are present in many parts of the world and, taking advantage of the pandemic, they are enriching themselves with corruption.

These structures of sin, mafia structures, contrary to the Gospel of Christ, substitute faith for idolatry.

He also recalled that this week the World Water Day was celebrated and recalled that many people suffer the consequences of its scarcity.

Too many brothers, many, many brothers and sisters have little access to water and perhaps it is contaminated. It is necessary to assure everyone of drinking water and hygienic services.

Indeed, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) pointed out in its 2020 report that access to drinking water per person has decreased by more than 20% in the last 20 years.
