Pope asks everyone to assume their responsibility to end poverty

One of the most original initiatives launched by Francisco is the World Day of the Poor. It is celebrated every year in November, and the Pope’s idea is to prepare in advance. 

For this reason, the Vatican has just presented a special message from Francis prepared for that day. 

In it, the Pope asks to change the way of approaching poverty. He says that “the poor are not people” outside “the community but brothers and sisters with whom they can share their suffering, to alleviate their situation.”

The Pope asks governments and institutions for “creative planning” to address the issue of poverty, especially during the reconstruction phase after the pandemic.

The World Day of the Poor will be held on November 14. That day the Pope will celebrate a mass with people with few resources. Then, if the pandemic does not prevent it, you will have lunch with them.
