GCBC calls on the Catholic Faithful to participate in the 2021 Population and Housing Census

the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference GCBC is urging Catholics and the general public to “avail themselves of the opportunity to be counted. and to participate fully in the ongoing population and housing census.”
The 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC) started with the Census Night on Sunday,
June 27, 2021. “We, your Bishops, wish to encourage all our Catholic Faithful to avail themselves” a signed communique by the President of GCBC, Most Rev. PhilipNaameh stated.
According to them, the “data captured is important to plan the national, regional, district and local development of our nation. It will also enable us to know our Catholic population in Ghana.”
focusing on the genuine security concerns of some Ghanaians, the signed letter from GCBC gave the assurance “that the necessary safeguarding measures have been put in place to ensure that nobody falls victim to activities of some unscrupulous individuals who might be parading themselves as Census Officers.”
The bishops also urged “all Catholic Faithful and the general public to take charge of their personal
security by being vigilant to ensure their safety and that of their household.”
