Pope Francisco will bless and send palliums to new archbishops this Tuesday in San Pedro
As it traditional, this Tuesday on the feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, the Pope will bless the palliums destined for the metropolitan archbishops appointed throughout the year.
The pallium is the woolen band that the archbishops wear on their shoulders, as a symbol of the good shepherd’s sheep and also of unity with the Pope.
During the ceremony in the Vatican, the palliums will be supported very close to the tomb of Saint Peter.
Because of the pandemic, the Pope will limit himself to blessing them. Other years he handed them over to the archbishops. This time he will send them to you through the nuncio.
He will bless them during a mass in San Pedro at 9:30 in the morning, before a limited number of pilgrims.
