St. Benedict Catholic Church at 20

The St. Benedict Catholic Church, Ofankor in the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, climaxed its 20th-anniversary celebration on the theme: “20 years of God’s goodness: Building our Church community on our most Holy Faith”, Jude 1:20.

As part of the celebration, some candidates from three parishes, namely, St. Benedict, Our Lady of Hope, and St. Theresa Catholic Church, received the Sacrament of confirmation to become fully-fledged members of the Church.

The celebration saw the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, Priests, Religious, Parishioners of St Benedict and friends gathered to climax this occasion.

The Sacrament was administered by the Main celebrant of the occasion, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp.

The dean of Kaneshie deanery and the Parish Priest of St. Benedict, Rev. Fr. Peter Atsu, stated that there are some instructions to follow if God’s work is to be done effectively. These instructions are “to work as a team and take nothing for the journey.”

Fr. Atsu again said that our strength comes through our teamwork with others. He, therefore, encouraged all that “as you serve Christ, don’t try to do it alone, we need one another to establish God’s kingdom”.

“We are called today not to focus too much on the things of this world and must trust in God’s care rather than in our resources,” he said.

Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie expressed his gratitude to the Church.

The children of St. Benedict were not left out as they surprised the Archbishop with a lovely message and condolence for the demise of his mother, Mrs Agnes Kwofie.
