SECAM DAY A REMINDER OF OUR ONENESS-Philippe Cardinal Ouedraogo

Philippe Cardinal Ouedraogo president of the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar “SECAM” has urged Christians in African to be united in Christ, to preserve, foster and promote communion, collective interests, and sacrifices for the Symposium to achieve its goals.
He explained that “it is the same ONENESS that the Holy Father Pope Francis has underscored in his third Encyclical. Fratellifuffl(issued in October2A20) and has fervently pleaded with humankind all over the world for a renewed commitment to universal brotherhood, friendship and solidarity”.
All Bishops are members of the Symposium and have shared responsibility for it. They are ambassadors of SECAM, with a leading role in its spiritual, financial and material welfare. he added.
Philippe Cardinal Ouedraogo spoke during the 52nd-anniversary thanksgiving mass held in honour of SECAM at its secretariat, Airport, Accra-Ghana.
The president also urged each brother Bishop to strengthen communion and commitment to SECAM, and to ensure that the Kampala Document and its exhortations are reflected in the pastoral programme of the local Church.
The challenges posed by the Coronavirus pandemic have impeded the operations and projects of the symposium; the Cardinal called for financial and material support for SECAM to carry out its projects.
In attendance were the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, Most Rev. Henryk Jagodzinski, the Bishop of Keta Akatsi Diocese, Most Rev. Gabriel Edoe Kumordji, SVD, Msgr. Terwase Henry Akaabiam, Secretary-General SECAM, Rev. Fr. Rafael Simbine Junior, Deputy Secretary-General and Coordinator of the SECAM Evangelization Commission, Rev. Fr. Lazarus Anondee, Secretary-General NCS a number of priests and workers of the secretariat.
