4 deacons have been ordained as catholic priests of the Archdiocese of Accra by the Metropolitan Archbishop, Most Rev. Fr. John Bonaventure Kwofie CSSp.

The bright coloured event took place at Holy Spirit Cathedral on Saturday, October 2 2021, observed under strict covid 19 protocol. family and friends of the ordinand, priests and religious of the Archdiocese as well as those working in the Archdiocese of Accra graced the ceremony.

The ordinand included: Rev Edward Asadare Agbeobila, Rev. Anthony Senyo Kwasi Sefogah,Rev. Gabriel Obodai Torgbor and Rev. James Danso Gyekye.


Each candidate was called by name and after inquiry among the people of Christ and upon recommendations of those concerned with other training the vocations director very Rev. Fr Emmanuel  Quashie testified that they have been found worthy.

During the examination of Candidates, each ordinand said “with the help of God” they resolve to consecrate their lives to God for the salvation of His people and to more closely unite to Christ the high priest.

The candidate also promised Respect and Obedience to the Archbishop and his successors. Then followed the Litany of Saints while the candidates prostrate as a sign of humility.

During the laying on of hands, every priest present prayed a silent prayer to confer the dignity of the Holy Spirit on each candidate. then after,  the prayer of Consecration was said at this point the deacons are now priests. they were then vested with stole and chasuble to signify their new office.

Their hands were anointed to preserve them in God’s vineyard and gifts of chalice and paten were given to each newly ordained priest. The rites ended with the kiss of peace by the Archbishop to congratulate the newly ordained priests.  The new priests also prayed and blessed  Archbishop Kwofie, Rectors and formators, their parents, as well as the congregation.


The Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr. John K. louis stated the postings of the new priests  effective 30th October,2021 as follows:

Rev. Fr.  Edward Asadare Agbeobila begins his  priesterial ministry at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Nungua; Rev.Fr. Anthony Senyo Kwasi Sefogah, joins the St. Peter Claver Catholic Church,Ada Foah; while Rev. Fr.Gabriel Obodai Torgbor settles at St. Anne and Joachim, Catholic Church,Teshie and Rev. Fr.James Danso Gyekye at St Theresa Catholic Church, Kaneshie
