Ghana’s First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has urged African first ladies to engage society in an effective manner to minimize violent conflicts and their effects on the populace.
Mrs. Akufo-Addo said this on Monday, 23 November 2021, when she attended the 9th General Assembly of the African First Ladies Peace Mission in Abuja, Nigeria, hosted by Dr. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, the First Lady of Nigeria.
The summit, according to Mrs. Akufo-Addo, was a good avenue to generate ideas on the best ways to assist in mitigating conflicts and enhancing peace, as well as security and the wellbeing of all people in African communities.
The Ghanaian First Lady disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari, who graced the occasion, re-echoed the need for African First Ladies to partner their husbands to pursue the African agenda of peace and development.
As part of the meeting, the First Ladies also cut sod for a headquarters for the African First Ladies Peace Mission.
