‘My First Day at School’ marked in Accra’

 St. Joseph R/C Basic School, Adabraka Accra, admitted nearly 100 new entrants yesterday when the Regional Manager for Catholic Education Unit, Mrs. Josephine Assibi Asooh visited the school as part of the annual ‘My First Day at School celebration’.

The headmistress of St. Joseph R/C basic school, Adabraka Accra, Mrs. Margaret Ama Ankamah at the time of filing this report was at a workshop, His Assistance Mr. Evans Baah of the Junior High Department expressed his displeasure towards Government’s new implementation of the 20weeks for 2022/2023 Academic Calender which he claim will be stressful for both the students and the teachers.

. He therefore called on the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference who are stakeholders in the Catholic Education to do their best and take back the school from Government.

As part of measures to curb the Covid- 19 , Both old and new Students with their teachers  were seen in nose mask with veronica buckets scattered on the compound

Speaking to Madam Francisca Arthur, who teaches Class 4 was hopeful the pupils would embrace the new Academic Calendar and make her work less difficult. She was happy all her students have reported to class.

Speaking to some of the students, they expressed their joy of coming back to school and seeing their friends in good health.

While some beamed as they played with their newly made friends, others cried and would not let go of their parents’ clothes. Some parents, who could not leave their wards, stayed with them and kept convincing them to stay in school.

The delegation also distributed stationery, school bags and confectionery to the pupils as a welcome token.

Interacting with the new entrants, she explained to them the essence of education and advised them to prioritise their studies to enable them realize their future careers.
