The Pope grants indulgences to those who participate in World Grandparents Day

The second World Grandparents day presents a new incentive. All those who participate in their diocese events will receive a plenary indulgence, as long as they meet the remaining conditions: confession, communion, and prayer for the intentions of the Pope.

The Decree of the Apostolic Penitentiary states that those who cannot participate due to illness can still unite in spirit and earn the same indulgence.

It can also be earned by those who spend their time caring for or visiting an elderly person in need, even through a video call.

The Pope’s current catechesis series is dedicated to remembering the value of old age in today’s world.

POPE FRANCIS
Young people watch us, and our coherence can open a beautiful path for their lives.

World Grandparents Day, celebrated on the fourth Sunday of July, falls on July 24 this year.
