Pope Francis asks heads of state to take pity on prisoners at Christmas
On the occasion of this Christmas, Pope Francis will send letters to different heads of state. With them, he will invite world leaders to have a gesture of mercy with what he defines as “brothers and sisters deprived of liberty.”
Francisco asks them to reach out to people they think need it, including prisoners. In fact, the Pope has often remembered them in his prayers.
FRANCISCO
In a special way we pray for the prisoners, for our brothers and sisters confined in jails, they are suffering and we have to be close to them through prayer. May the Lord help you and give you comfort in this difficult time.
In the context of Christmas, Pope Francis says that he encourages in this “time marked by tensions, injustices and conflicts” to open up to the “grace that comes from the Lord.”
