Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare, one of the Auxiliary Bishops of Accra, during his pastoral visit to St. George Catholic Church at Police Depot-Tesano on Sunday, July 27, 2025, has advised newly confirmed members of the church to be committed to the Catholic faith and always stand by the truth.

Also present was Rev. Msgr. Alex Bobby Benson, Director of the Matthew 25 House, Koforidua, COP. Very Rev. Fr. George Arthur, Director of Religious Affairs of the Ghana Police Service and Parish Priest of St. George Catholic Church at Police Depot and Very Rev. Fr. Joseph Adu-Owusu Agyeman , Justice of the High Court.

COP. Very Rev. Fr. George Arthur, during the mass officially presented 60 candidates for the sacrament of confirmation.

Bishop Asare engaged both candidates and their guardians with words of encouragement and spiritual guidance.

Addressing parents and godparents, he emphasized their responsibility in nurturing the candidates’ continued growth in faith urging them to be practicing Catholics to ensure that their godchildren remain rooted in the Catholic Church through active participation.

During his homily, Bishop Asare encouraged the congregation to deepen their prayer lives and seek spiritual intimacy with God.

Drawing on Scripture and Catholic tradition, he said, “Prayer builds our relationship with God. Prayer is important to us”, reminding that “our Mass is a prayer”.

Reflecting on humility in prayer, he referenced Abraham as a model of spiritual gentleness and humble before God.

With emphasis, Bishop Asare also encouraged them not only to speak in prayer, but to listen, urging them to have time for Him to inspire them with directions.

Turning directly to the candidates, Bishop Asare advised, “Never stop learning your faith”, stressing on their role in actively defending and sharing the Church’s teachings.

“If you are defending the Church,” he explained, “you stand by the truth…You must go and tell the story of what the Church teaches,” he concluded, commissioning them as young witnesses of Christ and guardians of Catholic doctrine.
