IMAGO DEI Bible Quiz Set to Ignite Faith and Unity Among Children in the Archdiocese of Accra

The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, in partnership with the Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council and the Pontifical Society of the Holy Missionary Childhood, is preparing to host the IMAGO DEI Bible Quiz. With the theme EMPOWERING THE MISSIONARY CHILDREN WITH THE WORD OF GOD, the contest will run from September 14 to December 28, 2025, bringing together young minds from 28 parishes spread across seven deaneries.

This initiative is produced by The Cocktail with media support from Lumen Christi TV, Catholic Trends, and DEPSOCOM. It is a celebration of Scripture, doctrine, teamwork, and spiritual growth.

The competition is structured into three rounds:
Round 1 focuses on the Old Covenant
Round 2 moves into the New Covenant
Round 3 dives into Catholic Dogma (Doctrine)

Each participating parish will be represented by a team of four children, three main contestants, and one substitute from all seven deaneries: Mamprobi, Tema, Osu, Battor-Ada, Kaneshie, Kpehe, and Ashaiman.

According to Rev. Father Elvis Mensah, who is involved in organizing the competition
“For the organizers, all is set from our end. We are looking forward to an exciting contest. We wish the contestants the best of luck.”

He added: “The excitement stems from the prize package. On account of this, each representative (contestant) would want to get to the ultimate. You can imagine a host of people wanting to grab a single trophy.”

“The themes have been structured to meet the modern needs of humanity. It encompasses everything. There is the Holy Bible, Church Doctrines, Current affairs, etc.”

“The Parish plays a significant role because these children aren’t on their own, but they are representing their respective parishes. Some parishes are camping their children. Others are organising weekly contests for their children. Others are also interceding for their children.”

“It will deepen the faith in them. It will sharpen their mental faculties. It will boost their confidence levels.”

“This year’s contest promises to be super. It could be likened to the NSMQ.”

“Children should intensify their preparation. Families should support their children.”

The prizes at stake are exciting: championship trophies, flat-screen TVs, tablets, books, Jerusalem Bibles, rosaries, and even special services at the winning parish.

Missionary children from St. Augustine Catholic Church – Ashaiman shared their thoughts:
“I feel excited and a little nervous, but mostly grateful for the chance to deepen my knowledge of God’s word and share the experience with others.”

“I’m especially looking forward to revisiting the Gospels and the stories of the early church in Acts. They remind me of the foundations of our faith and how God’s word continues to guide us today.”

“I’m preparing mainly with my parish team, but I also make time to review on my own. Sometimes I share what I’m learning with my family too.”

“Studying the Bible is more than just reading. It’s about connecting with God, finding guidance for my daily life, and drawing strength and wisdom from His word.”

“I hope to grow in my understanding of the scriptures, learn how to work better with others as a team, and discover new insights that I might have overlooked before.”

“This experience is helping me build discipline in studying God’s word. It’s also strengthening my confidence in sharing scripture and applying it to my life, which will deepen my faith and witness.”

Animators from St. Augustine Catholic Church- Ashaiman emphasized the role of the parish:

“The parish community plays a big role by guiding, encouraging, and praying for the children. Their support creates an environment where the children feel loved, motivated, and confident to study God’s Word.”

“I believe it will deepen their knowledge of Scripture, strengthen their personal relationship with God, and inspire them to live out their faith more boldly in their daily lives.”

“Enjoy the journey of studying the Bible together. It’s not only about winning the quiz, but about drawing closer to God as a family and community. Trust Him, give your best, and He will do the rest.”

With the IMAGO DEI Bible Quiz approaching, the countdown has begun with the trophy tour making its way to the various parishes in the deaneries.
