Rosary Congress Pilgrims Urged to Recommit to Holy Rosary as Daily Spiritual Companion

The Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare, Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, has called on all Catholics to renew their devotion to the Holy Rosary and make it an integral part of their daily spiritual life.

He said this during the opening mass of the Maiden Rosary Congress, where he reiterated that there is a need for Catholics to draw closer to God through constant meditation on the mysteries of the Rosary, which serve as both a weapon of faith and a source of spiritual strength.

He noted, “‎The rosary is not a mere repetition of words but a journey of Scripture.”

‎Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare, in his homily, explained that the Holy Rosary is a powerful weapon and that Catholics should translate the energy put into this congress into their various parishes.

He added that in a world marked by fear, confusion, and spiritual welfare, “the rosary stands as a weapon of peace, faith and hope guiding us the faithful on our pilgrimage towards God.”

‎Quoting the scripture from Ephesians 6:11, he emphasized that St. Paul encourages all faithful to put on the whole armor of God to be able to stand against the destruction of the devil.

‎”Each Hail Mary is a spiritual sword, each decade a shield of divine protection,” Bishop Asare stated.

‎Bishop Anthony Narh Asare reiterated that Mary, in her appearances at Lourdes, Fatima and other locations around the world, encourages humanity to pray the rosary every day to obtain peace in our daily lives and in the world.

‎He further explained the Mysteries of the Holy Rosary as a guiding light to all faithful as pilgrims of hope.

‎Beginning with the Joyful Mystery, he explained that the joyful mystery proclaims good news of the incarnation, teaching us to trust in God’s promises, while the Sorrowful Mystery leads Christians to the cross, as inscribed in the gospel of Matthew, Chapters 26 and 27. “It teaches us endurance and redemptive love”, he added.

‎Touching on the Glorious mystery, Bishop Asare highlighted the triumph of life over death, assuring the pilgrims that nothing can separate them from the love of God, and the Luminous mystery illuminates the public ministry of Christ, calling all faithful to be the light of the world.

‎Additionally, Bishop Asare encouraged all to re-commit themselves to the rosary as “their daily companion and spiritual shield, their song in sorrow and their strength in weakness.”

‎To the youth, he advised that they “find in the rosary a rhythm of peace amidst modern distractions.”
