“It Should Never be About Ourselves”- Vice President on Legacy of Hope Project
Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of the republic of Ghana has assured the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra of a partnership between the government and the Archdiocese to complete the Legacy of Hope Project at Adjen Kotoku.
This comes after an appeal made by the Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, Metropolitan Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, for the government to assist the Archdiocese to complete the stalled Children’s Hospital project.
She said, “…I stand with you because you are not asking for anything for yourselves… it should never be about ourselves and I think that is how we lose our way when we put ourselves first and forget others”, she said.
According to Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, during her address at the concluding Mass of the Maiden Rosary Congress in Accra on Saturday, October 18, when God grants privileges and blessings, it should be used for the benefit of others, citing the story of Abraham.

She said, “Abraham knows that he is in a position of privilege, he could have asked for anything… what does he use his privilege for, he uses it to plead for Sodom and Gomora. He didn’t ask for the world, maybe he could have asked for that but he uses his privilege in the service of those who did not even know that they were in difficulty but he spoke for them”.
The Vice President while speaking encouraged all present to be informed that, “…wherever you are, that is God’s blessing and He puts you there for a reason just as He blessed Abraham”, urging the faithful to use their privileges for the benefit of others.
The Legacy of Hope Project, according to Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie needs an approximate amount of 10 million cedis to resume work, noting that the Children’s Hospital will benefit not only Catholics but the general public.
He noted, “The Children’s Hospital, like our many Catholic institutions, will serve not only Catholics but the entire nation. It is a work of mercy and a beacon of hope for all God’s children. It is being built for humanity.”
