The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC) has officially closed its 2025 Annual Plenary Assembly held at the Unity Centre in the Catholic Diocese of Damongo in the Savannah Region.
The week-long gathering, which ran from November 7–14, brought together all Catholic Bishops in Ghana, Most Rev. Julien Kaboré, Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, national Catholic institutions and societies, regional authorities, traditional leaders, and lay faithful.
This year’s Assembly, themed “A Synodal Church at the Service of Justice and Peace in Ghana,” marked a significant moment for the Church, coming at a time when the Diocese of Damongo celebrates its 30th anniversary.
Throughout the week, the Bishops engaged in prayer, reflection, pastoral evaluation, and national discussions.
Earlier events included a courtesy visit to the Yagbonwura, His Royal Majesty Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, and the Damongowura Seidu Kelly Boresa I, where issues of peacebuilding and youth development were discussed.

Visits to the Mole National Park and the historic Larabanga Mosque deepened interfaith bonds and strengthened the Bishops’ appreciation for environmental stewardship.
Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, MP for Damongo also hosted a luncheon meeting with the bishops, during which the minister reaffirmed his dedication to supporting the Church’s mission in the region.
In their communiqué, issued during the closing mass of the Plenary Assemble at St. Anne’s Cathedral in Damongo, the Bishops expressed deep gratitude to the host Bishop, Most Rev. Peter Paul Yelezuome Angkyier, and the faithful of the diocese for their outstanding hospitality.
They also congratulated the dioceses celebrating significant anniversaries, including Damongo, Jasikan, Konongo-Mampong, Obuasi, and Keta-Akatsi.
The Bishops reaffirmed that synodality remains the path forward, urging all Catholic communities nationwide to deepen a spirit of shared responsibility, listening, and collaborative leadership in the mission of the Church.
