2025 World Youth Day Accra Version Underway
The 2025 edition of World Youth Day (WYD) for the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra has officially kicked off on November 21, 2025, at the St. Andrew Catholic Church, Kordiabe in the Ashaiman Deanery, drawing young Catholics from across the Archdiocese for a two-day spiritual gathering.
Under the theme “You also are my witnesses, because you have been with me” (John 15:27), the spiritual exercise marks the climax of a year-long preparation by the Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council.
The opening day featured a line-up of faith-centered activities, including catechesis sessions, group prayer, and the veneration of the WYD pilgrimage symbols, notably the World Youth Day Cross and the Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, which have been touring the Archdiocese’s deaneries in the lead-up to the event.
Augustine Kwame Dagbey, Chairman of the Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council, delivered an address, urging the youth to embrace their call as active witnesses of their faith.

He emphasized, “Today through to tomorrow, let us stay here with open hearts.”
Alongside spiritual formation, Augustine Kwame Dagbey encouraged them to “connect with Christ so that together, we can grow as one youth front; alive, vibrant, and rooted in God’s love.”
The 2025 Accra Version of the WYD, will also feature talks, healing and deliverance sessions, evangelization, among other spiritual exercises to enrich the youth in Accra with the Catholic faith.
