Accra Youth Urged to Take Christ into Their Communities

The Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, on 21st of November, 2025 at the 2025 World Youth Day, Accra Version celebrations at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Kordiabe, encouraged youth in the Archdiocese to extend their faith into society by living out the Gospel through their actions, relationships and choices.

In his homily at the opening Mass, Most Rev. John Kobina Louis explained that Christian witness is not confined to prayer meetings or church activities but must be visible in the ways young people conduct themselves in their communities.

He highlighted that Jesus calls His followers to be co-witnesses with the Holy Spirit, urging the youth to allow the Spirit to guide their decisions in school, work, friendships and family life.According to Bishop Louis, evangelization today includes simple acts such as speaking truth with kindness, treating others fairly, promoting peace, respecting parents and elders, and serving the poor, elderly and marginalized.

“You are not just future leaders you are present witnesses,” he emphasized, noting that the country’s moral and social future depends significantly on the character of its young people.

He encouraged the youth to use their talents, whether in music, sports, academics, leadership, or digital creativity to glorify God and spread hope among their peers.

The WYD celebration, which continues through Saturday, offers teaching sessions, communal prayers and activities designed to inspire the youth to embrace their roles as missionary disciples.
