ARCHBISHOP KWOFIE MAKES PASTORAL VISIT TO MARY MOTHER OF GOD, DEVTRACO COURT COMMUNITY 25

On Sunday, 1st February 2026, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, paid a pastoral visit to Mary Mother of God Church, Devtraco Court (Community 25), in the Archdiocese of Accra.
The Archbishop was warmly received by the Priest-in-Charge, Rev. Fr. Mark Nana Yaw Asare, the Chairman of the Church Pastoral Council, Mr. Nathan Tedam, and the faithful of the church.
In honour of the visit, the 5th District Commandery and Accra East District 2 Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St. John International (KSJI) organized a ceremonial parade. The parade was inspected by Captain Daniel Adasu, Past District Adjutant; Captain David Halm, District 2 President; Sister Sally Patricia Owusu-Ansah; and Rev. Fr. Mark Nana Yaw Asare.

Delivering a welcome address, Mr. Nathan Tedam expressed gratitude to the Archbishop for his second pastoral visit to the community. He recalled the Archbishop’s first visit, during which the faithful were encouraged to remain patient, steadfast in faith, and united despite challenges surrounding the church building project. Mr. Tedam thanked God for the successful completion of the church edifice, noting that the community has been worshipping in the new building since last year.
He further expressed appreciation to the Archbishop for appointing Rev. Fr. Mark Nana Yaw Asare as Priest-in-Charge of Mary Mother of God Church.
Concluding his address, Mr. Tedam stated that the parish has embraced the Archbishop’s Legacy of Hope Project by adopting a hospital ward in support of the initiative, aimed at bringing healing, dignity, and hope to vulnerable children.

Also present at the Mass were members of the Noble Order of the Knights of Marshall, Council 37, and Court 175, Devtraco.
In his homily, Most Rev. John
Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp, reflected on the day’s readings, particularly the message of the prophet Zephaniah, highlighting the call to seek justice and humility. He emphasized that true observance of God’s law must be rooted in humility, describing it as essential to spiritual growth.
“All that God wants from us is to become humble,” the Archbishop noted.
He further referenced 1 Peter 5:6:
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.”
Reflecting on the Gospel reading from Matthew 5, the Archbishop explained that true happiness lies in a spirit that seeks nothing but the Kingdom of Heaven, adding that “the one who believes he has heaven has everything.”
At the end of the Mass, Archbishop Kwofie performed a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a new Rectory building for Mary Mother of God Church, Devtraco Court.
