Maiden ELPIDA NEA Concert to Support Legacy of Hope Pediatric Hospital Project

The Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council (AADCYC), in collaboration with the Accra Archdiocesan COSRA, has successfully organized the maiden edition of the ELPIDA NEA Concert, bringing together hundreds of young Catholics from across the Archdiocese of Accra for an evening of worship, music, and fundraising in support of the Legacy of Hope Pediatric Hospital Project.
Held on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Adenta, the concert provided a platform for young people to unite through music, faith, and charity while contributing to a project aimed at providing quality healthcare for children.
The programme opened with a spoken word performance by children, which received a warm reception from the audience and set the tone for an evening dedicated to hope, compassion, and service.
Delivering the welcome address, the Assistant Priest of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Madina Youth Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Joseph Effah Siaw, welcomed participants and commended the organizers for creating an avenue that brought young people together through worship and music. He encouraged the youth to remain committed to their faith, support one another, and continue using their talents in service to God and the Church.
The Angelic Youth Choir from St. Theresa Catholic Church, Kaneshie, opened the musical performances with a vibrant and uplifting ministration that immediately engaged the congregation. The atmosphere was filled with praise as participants clapped, sang, and danced along.
The St. Bakhita Catholic Church Choir from Tema Deanery followed with a powerful performance marked by beautiful harmonies and inspiring moments of worship.
The Mass Choir of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Kwashiman, continued the excitement with energetic praise songs that had many worshippers on their feet, dancing and lifting their hands in thanksgiving.
The Angelis Chorale from Tema also thrilled the audience with a captivating performance that filled the church with rich harmonies and created moments of deep prayer and reflection.
The highlight of the concert came with the arrival of gospel musician Apostle Peter Owusu Ansah. His appearance was met with loud applause and cheers from the congregation. His energetic praise and worship session transformed the church into an atmosphere of joyful celebration as young people sang, danced, and worshipped enthusiastically.
Speaking after his performance, Apostle Peter Owusu Ansah described the event as a grace-filled encounter with God and praised the organizers for combining worship with a meaningful charitable initiative. “This has been a grace-filled moment in the presence of God. Through music and worship, we have not only encountered God but also supported a vision that will benefit countless children through the Legacy of Hope Project,” he said.
In an interview, Rev. Fr. Julius Dela Gemadzie expressed his joy at being part of the inaugural edition of ELPIDA NEA. He described the concert as spiritually enriching and encouraged participants to continue supporting future editions and the Legacy of Hope Pediatric Hospital Project. He stated, “This project is about planting seeds of hope for our children. Every contribution made today will help build a future where children can receive quality healthcare when they need it most”.
The Chairman of AADCYC, Bro. Augustine Kwame Dagbey expressed gratitude to God for the success of the event. He explained that ELPIDA NEA, which means “New Hope,” was created as an annual youth-centred initiative to inspire young Catholics while supporting important Archdiocesan projects. He praised the impressive turnout and active participation of the youth, noting that the success of the maiden edition exceeded expectations and provided a strong foundation for future editions.
Also speaking at the event, the President of Accra Archdiocesan COSRA, Prosper Narteh-Agbeyome, highlighted the fruitful partnership between COSRA and the Youth Council. He noted that both groups shared a common vision and were delighted to collaborate in bringing the initiative to life. He called for increased awareness and participation at the parish level to ensure that future editions attract even more young people across the Archdiocese.
The Youth Chaplain of the Archdiocese of Accra, Rev. Fr. Alphonse Bulloro, described ELPIDA NEA as a new initiative established by the Youth Office and the Youth Council to bring young people together in worship, thanksgiving, and charity. He explained that the programme seeks not only to deepen the spiritual lives of young people but also to mobilize support for Archdiocesan projects, particularly the Legacy of Hope Pediatric Hospital Project. He expressed hope that ELPIDA NEA would continue to grow into a recognized and impactful event within the Archdiocese.
A youth participant, Dominic Makarios Bainiah-Dary, encouraged fellow young Catholics to support the Legacy of Hope Project, emphasizing that every contribution, regardless of size, can make a difference in the life of a child.
He described the event as a powerful demonstration of faith, unity, and commitment among Catholic youth and urged participants to continue supporting the realization of the hospital project.
The host of the event, Belinda Ayorkor Fianu, described the concert as one of the most impactful programmes she had hosted in the year. She praised the unity displayed by the youth and expressed confidence that future editions would become bigger and more influential across the Archdiocese.
