Marshallans of Council 74, Court 67 Hold Medical Outreach at Adjen Kotoku
As part of activities marking their 25th anniversary, the Knights and Ladies of Marshall Council 74 and Court 67 Accra Central recently organized a medical outreach for the people of Adjen Kotoku.
The event which took place on Saturday, 26th April, 2025 at one of the Archbishop Kwofie’s Legacy of Hope Project Site, the Childhood Cancer and Pediatric Hospital currently under construction.
This year’s celebration is themed: “Guided by Faith, Driven by Service and Charity, 25 Years of Making a Difference in the Church, Community, and Humanity.”

In an interview with Bro. Charles Kwesi Adjandeh, Chairman of the 25th Anniversary Planning Committee, he emphasized the importance of the initiative.
“We are here to support the community by bringing healthcare services closer to the people of Adjen Kotoku,” he stated.
He added, “One of our core goals is to ensure a healthy community. This is our way of supporting both the community and the Archdiocese.”
The outreach was a vital health initiative aimed at enhancing access to quality healthcare in a deprived area.
Rev. Fr. Sylvester Segbawu, the priest in charge of St. Peter Catholic church, Adjen Kotoku, highlighted the significance of the ongoing hospital project
“This is the only oncology hospital in Ghana and the entire West Africa, dedicated to pediatric care, especially for children battling cancer,” he said.
He added, “The structure alone has cost us 2.2 million dollars. We still owe the contractor, and we need an additional 3.3 million dollars to equip the facility.”

He noted that the Archbishop’s vision is to complete all phases of the facility this year and open it in the first quarter of next year.
“We are once again appealing to all individuals and organizations to help us complete this vital project,” Fr. Segbawu added.
The Assemblyman and residents of Adjen Kotoku expressed their profound gratitude to the Knights and Ladies of Marshall Council 74 and Court 67 for their generous support.
They joined in the call for more contributions to help complete the hospital for the benefit of children across the region.
The Grand Knight of Council 74, Bro. Grant Desbordes and his counterpart Noble Lady Sis Dr. Agatha Mensah-Debrah of Court 67 were very impressed with the successful organisation of the outreach program and pledged their continuous support towards the completion of the project.

The medical outreach provided essential medical services including blood pressure checks, blood glucose testing, body mass index (BMI) assessments, general health and wellness screening, eye examinations, rapid diagnostic tests (RDT) for malaria, distribution of free eyeglasses, medication, and other medical services.
About 1,000 residents especially children in Adjen Kotoku and its surrounding areas were catered for during the outreach.
