The 3rd Edition of the Triangular Procession Rallies Support for the Legacy of Hope Children’s Hospital Project

The 3rd Edition of the Triangular Procession with Jesus and Mary was successfully held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, bringing together members of the Legion of Mary, Marian devotees, and Catholic faithful from various parishes within the Archdiocese of Accra.
The annual spiritual exercise was organized to deepen devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and the Blessed Virgin Mary through prayer, reflection, Eucharistic Adoration, and Holy Mass. The event also served as a platform to raise awareness and support for the Legacy of Hope Children’s Hospital Project, an initiative of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, C.S.Sp.
The procession, led by Rev. Fr. Patrick Quarcoopome, Spiritual Director of the Legion of Mary in Ghana (Accra Senatus), commenced at Christ the King Catholic Church, Cantonments. In his welcome address, Fr. Quarcoopome expressed gratitude to all participants for their commitment to the spiritual exercise and encouraged them to undertake the pilgrimage with hearts open to God’s grace. He urged the faithful to embrace the walk as an opportunity for spiritual renewal, strengthening their relationship with God through prayer, sacrifice, and reflection, and to seek a deeper encounter with Jesus Christ through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The faithful invoked the Holy Spirit and began the journey by praying the Holy Rosary and singing Marian hymns, creating an atmosphere of profound spiritual devotion.
The first stop of the procession was St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Cantonments, where the pilgrims were warmly received by Rev. Fr. Jones Abaifar Dong-Purye, Assistant Priest of the parish. He delivered a brief reflection, encouraging the faithful to remain steadfast in prayer and committed to living out their Christian vocation. The congregation then participated in the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Eucharistic Adoration, accompanied by scriptural reflection, silent meditation, and Benediction.
The procession then continued to St. Michael Garrison Catholic Church, 37 Military Hospital. Along the route, participants maintained an atmosphere of prayer and devotion through the recitation of the Rosary and the singing of Marian songs. Upon arrival, the faithful once again gathered before the Blessed Sacrament for a period of Eucharistic Adoration. A reading from Romans 14:13–23 challenged participants to live lives that build up others and avoid becoming stumbling blocks to fellow Christians. Following a period of silent reflection, Benediction was imparted.
The pilgrims subsequently returned to Christ the King Catholic Church, Cantonments, marking the final stage of the triangular procession. Upon arrival, the faithful gathered before the Blessed Sacrament for a final session of Eucharistic Adoration. Hymns of adoration were sung as a reading from Colossians 3:12–17 was proclaimed, followed by a period of silent meditation and prayer.
The Holy Mass, which marked the climax of the day’s activities, was presided over by Rev. Fr. Patrick Quarcoopome. In his homily, he reminded the faithful that every Christian is called to walk with Jesus daily and to imitate the virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He emphasized that authentic Marian devotion should always lead believers to a deeper relationship with Christ and inspire lives characterized by holiness, humility, and service.
Following the Mass, Rev. Fr. Paul Ebo Quarshie led the congregation in a final session of Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Eucharistic Adoration. Through scripture reflection, hymns of worship, silent meditation, and Benediction, participants brought the day’s spiritual activities to a fitting and prayerful conclusion.
The 3rd Edition of the Triangular Procession with Jesus and Mary was a remarkable demonstration of faith, unity, and Christian charity. Beyond strengthening Eucharistic and Marian devotion among participants, the event successfully raised funds in support of the Legacy of Hope Children’s Hospital Project, contributing to the Church’s mission of promoting quality healthcare and hope for children and families.
