Vatican to announce the Pope’s message for the World Day of the Poor
On June 14, the Vatican will publish the Pope’s message for the fifth World Day of the Poor. It will be celebrated on November 14 and as its motto it takes this phrase from the Gospel of Saint Mark: “You always have the poor with you.”
The person in charge of presenting the message of Francis will be Archbishop Rino Fisichela, of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization.
Francis launched the World Day of the Poor in 2017 to reflect on the needs of these people and to make Christians more aware of how to help them.
That day the Pope usually invites a group of needy people to lunch, although in the last edition he was unable to do so due to the pandemic. He celebrated mass with them and gave them a lunch.
