Pope in hospital recovering normally

July 6 medical bulletin: Pope Francis rested well overnight. This morning he had breakfast, read the newspapers and got up to walk. Results of routine follow-up tests came out fine.

Holy See Press Office director Matteo Bruni said on Tuesday that the post-operative recovery of Pope Francis is proceeding normally. The results of routine follow-up tests are good.

The Pope went to Rome’s Agostino Gemelli hospital on Sunday for a colon operation.

Bruni noted in the statement that “His Holiness Pope Francis rested well overnight. This morning he had breakfast, read a few newspapers, and got up to walk.”
