A/R: Only 56% of residents have face mask
It has emerged that only 56 per cent of residents in the Ashanti region have face masks.
This was disclosed by the Ashanti Regional Health Director, Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang.
He said out of the figure, 34 per cent wear the face mask properly.
Dr Tenkorang said the figure was arrived at in a survey conducted on the wearing of the face mask in the region.
He noted that the wearing of the face mask, according to the survey, has reduced, as compared to previous surveys.
Dr Tenkorang said in the previous survey, 62 per cent possessed face masks while 41 per cent wore it properly.
Dr Tenkorang called on residents in the region to wear the mask and adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols, since the disease is still in the country.
Meanwhile, some 344 people have died from the coronavirus in the region.
Dr Tenkorang, who spoke to the media, said the region recorded 392 new cases from July 20 to 14 August 2021.
He said the region has recorded 19,622 cases with 18,460 recoveries.
Out of 818 active cases in the region, 798 are being managed at home while 20 are on admission at the treatment centres.
Dr Tenkorang noted that out of the 20 who are on admission at the treatment centres, 12 are severe while four are in critical condition.
