“Women are the Cords that Bind the Family ” – Fr. Parankimalil
Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony Parankimalil, VC, during the Eucharistic Spirituality Seminar on June 6, 2025 has reminded Catholic women of their irreplaceable role in sustaining the spiritual and emotional foundation of the home .
He said, “Women are the cords that bind the family”.
The gathering brought together women from various parishes across the Archdiocese for a day of reflection, teaching, and renewal.
Fr. Anthony, a Vincentian priest from the United Kingdom renowned for his powerful Eucharistic teachings and vibrant pastoral outreach, focused his message on the family, particularly the crucial role women play in holding it together.
“The strength of a home lies in the spiritual backbone of the woman,” he said.
“Her prayers, her sacrifices, her ability to forgive, and her endless love, these are what keep families from falling apart when life gets difficult”, he added.
Citing the scriptures and real-life examples, Fr. Anthony stressed that while both spouses are called to love and service, women carry a special grace to intercede and nurture, especially in moments of crisis.
He urged women not to give up on their families, no matter how challenging things may become.
“God may give a talkative woman to a silent husband,” he said, “but with love, patience, and prayer, even the most difficult situations can be transformed.”
Fr. Anthony also reminded women that family life is a divine vocation, one that requires total surrender to God’s grace and direction.
He encouraged them to resist the temptation of bitterness and resentment, especially in cases where their expectations have not been met.
“You are called not only to bind but to bless. You hold your family together, not by control or complaint, but by quiet strength, wise counsel, and persistent prayer,” he said.
He further emphasized the importance of forgiveness and selflessness, saying, “A mother or wife who holds grudges only hands that bitterness to her children. Let your love be healing. Let your words speak life. Let your presence bring peace.”
Fr. Anthony reflected on the role of women in their homes, their walk with God, and the legacy they are building for their children.
In a society where the family unit is increasingly under pressure, Fr. Anthony’s message encouraged families to return to faith, resilience, and divine order.
The session concluded with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, where Fr. Anthony led a moment of intercession for families, praying for unity, healing, and strength for all women present.
