Archbishop Kwofie Confirms 32, Dedicates Marian Grotto During Pastoral Visit to Michel Camp

On Sunday, 15 February 2026, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, John Bonaventure Kwofie, paid a pastoral visit to St. Michael Catholic Church, Michel Camp, Tema, within the Archdiocese of Accra.
The Archbishop was received by the Priest-in-Charge, Rev. Fr. Major Anthony Kuta Essien; Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Captain Wisdom-Bakhita Yao Dziedzorm Anane; the Chairperson of the Parish Pastoral Council, COP Beatrice Vib-Sanziri (Rtd); and a cross-section of the faithful.
During the Eucharistic celebration, Archbishop Kwofie administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 32 candidates drawn from St. Michael Catholic Church and All Saints Catholic Church, Tema.
In his homily, the Archbishop reflected on the day’s readings, with particular emphasis on the message from the Book of Sirach. He underscored the theme of free will and moral responsibility, noting that God sets before humanity life and death, good and evil, and grants each person the freedom to choose. He reminded the congregation that individuals possess the capacity to discern between right and wrong, stressing that every choice carries consequences. He therefore urged the faithful to make deliberate decisions rooted in faith and aligned with God’s will.
The Mass was attended by members of the Knights of St. John International (KSJI) and the Ladies Auxiliary, Accra East, as well as Sir Knight Charles Cobb, President of the International Alliance of Catholic Knights (IACK). Also present was Lieutenant Colonel Frank Adam, Commanding Officer of the 1 Infantry Battalion.
At the close of the celebration, Archbishop Kwofie blessed and dedicated the newly constructed Mary Help of Christians Grotto, built by Mr. Michael George Bebli, Executive Director of Golenline Marline Ltd.
In a brief interview after the Mass, Rev. Fr. Captain Wisdom-Bakhita Yao Dziedzorm Anane expressed appreciation to the Archbishop for the pastoral visit and the dedication of the grotto. He encouraged Catholics in Tema and beyond to patronise the Marian site as a place of prayer and spiritual renewal.
