Christ Is Risen: Joy Fills Holy Spirit Cathedral on Easter Sunday

On April 5, 2026, Easter Sunday was joyfully celebrated at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka, where the faithful of the parish and the faithful of the Archdiocese of Accra gathered to mark the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie CSSp. In his homily, Archbishop Kwofie emphasized the message of hope, renewal, and transformation that Easter brings. He reminded the congregation that the Resurrection is the foundation of the Christian faith and a call to live renewed lives rooted in love, sacrifice, and service to others. He urged the faithful to move beyond fear and despair, embracing the light of Christ in their daily lives.
The Archbishop also called on Christians to be witnesses of the Resurrection by promoting peace, unity, and compassion within their communities. Drawing from the journey of Holy Week, he encouraged the faithful to carry forward the lessons of humility, sacrifice, and unwavering faith.
As part of the liturgy, the faithful renewed their baptismal promises, reaffirming their commitment to Christ and the Church. This symbolic act served as a reminder of their identity as followers of the risen Lord.
The choir enriched the liturgy with melodious and inspiring songs, adding to the joyful and celebratory atmosphere.
The celebration concluded with a final blessing from Archbishop Kwofie, who wished all present a joyful and grace-filled Easter. The faithful departed with renewed spiritual strength, inspired to live out the message of the Resurrection in their homes and communities.
