Catholic Archdiocese of Accra Marks 2026 Vocations Rally in Grand Style

The Accra Archdiocesan Vocations Office, in collaboration with the Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council (AADCYC), successfully organized the 2026 Vocations Rally on Saturday, 25th April 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Adenta. The event, which commenced at 8:00 a.m., brought together a large number of young people and members of the Catholic faithful from across the Archdiocese.

The rally was held under the theme, “Sent to Witness: Living the Gospel Every Day,” aimed at inspiring young people to become active witnesses of Christ in their daily lives. Through engaging talks, reflections, and interactions, participants were challenged to deepen their faith and respond generously to their Christian vocation.

The program highlighted the various vocations within the Church, including Consecrated Life, Priestly Life, and Marriage. Representatives from different religious congregations in the Archdiocese shared their personal experiences, offering practical insights and encouragement to young people discerning their path in life.

A talk on marriage and family life was delivered by Mr. Sebastian Owusu Frimpong, who spoke on love and unity, while Sr. Maria Antoinette Selormey, HDR, addressed participants on Religious Life. An interactive question-and-answer session followed, allowing the youth to engage directly with the speakers, seek clarification, and receive guidance on vocation-related concerns. This session proved particularly impactful, addressing the uncertainties many young people face.

Very Rev. Fr. Alphonsus Bulloro led Eucharistic Adoration, during which participants engaged in silent prayer and deep reflection before the Blessed Sacrament. This moment provided a space for spiritual renewal and attentive listening to God’s voice.

The celebration of the Holy Mass was presided over by the Vocations Director of the Archdiocese, Very Rev. Fr. Edmund Neizer. In a homily reflecting on the theme, Rev. Fr. Ebenezer Hanson drew from his youthful experiences and personal journey to the priesthood, inspiring participants with his testimony. He emphasized that “vocation is a personal call that requires prayer, patience, and courage to embrace,” encouraging the youth to remain open to God’s guidance.

In a message delivered by Very Rev. Fr. Alphonsus Bulloro on behalf of the Auxiliary Bishop of Accra in charge of youth, Most Rev. Anthony Narh Asare, participants were reminded that vocation extends beyond priesthood and religious life to include marriage, family life, and service in various professions.

The Bishop urged the youth to listen to God through prayer, the Eucharist, and spiritual direction, and to live with courage, integrity, and faith. He stressed that each person has a unique purpose in God’s plan and called on them to respond generously to God’s call.

In his closing remarks, Very Rev. Fr. Edmund Neizer expressed sincere appreciation to the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obeng Cudjoe, Assistant Priest Rev. Fr. Joseph Effah, and all organizers for their dedication and commitment to the success of the rally. He encouraged the youth to take their vocations seriously, remain prayerful, and stay attentive to God’s call.

The event was attended by priests, as well as religious brothers and sisters from Ghana and beyond, reflecting the universal nature of the Church. Notably, twenty-two (22) religious congregations, including diocesan priests, were represented, offering participants broad exposure to the diverse vocations within the Church.
