ACCRA EAST TEMPLE OF THE NOBLE AND EXALTED KNIGHTS OF THE HOLY CROSS CONFERS NOBLE DEGREE ON 60 KNIGHTS

On Saturday, 2nd May 2026, the Accra East Temple of the Noble and Exalted Knights of the Holy Cross successfully organized a Noble Degree Exemplification Ceremony at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka, during which sixty (60) Knights were officially admitted to the Noble Degree of the Order.
The memorable ceremony brought together Knights from various Temples, along with family members, friends, and well-wishers, who gathered to witness this important milestone in the candidates’ lives. The occasion reflected the rich spiritual heritage, discipline, and traditions of the Noble and Exalted Knights of the Holy Cross.
The programme commenced with a solemn Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Clement Wilson, Cathedral Administrator of the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka. In his homily, Rev. Fr. Wilson urged the candidates to remain steadfast in their Christian faith and uphold the virtues of charity, humility, obedience, and sacrifice in service to God and humanity.
He reminded the candidates that the Noble Degree is not merely an honour but a call to deeper commitment to the mission of the Church and the ideals of the Noble and Exalted Knights of the Holy Cross.
The exemplification rite began with the formal presentation of the sixty candidates to the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, CSSp. During the ceremony, the Auxiliary Bishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, examined the candidates on their faith, moral commitment, and readiness to undertake the responsibilities associated with the Noble Degree.
The candidates were then solemnly led to take their promises by Archbishop John Bonaventure Kwofie, publicly affirming their commitment to Christ, the Holy Cross, the Church, and the ideals of the Knights of St. John International. The rite of investiture was subsequently performed by Most Rev. John Kobina Louis.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the knighting of the candidates by Archbishop John Bonaventure Kwofie, symbolizing their formal admission into the Noble Order and their spiritual readiness to defend the faith, uphold truth, and serve the Church with courage, discipline, and integrity. The rite marked their transformation from candidates into fully initiated Noble and Exalted Knights of the Holy Cross.
Addressing the newly elevated Knights, Archbishop John Bonaventure Kwofie called on them to remain steadfast in their Catholic faith and commitment to the Church. He emphasized that their admission into the Noble Order was not only an honour but also a call to greater responsibility, sacrifice, discipline, and service to God and humanity.
The Archbishop also stressed the importance of Christian marriage and family life, describing marriage as a sacred and lifelong covenant rooted in faith, love, patience, and commitment. He cautioned against cohabitation and lifestyles contrary to Catholic teaching, urging the candidates to become true witnesses of Christ in their homes and communities.
He further encouraged them to live lives characterized by honesty, devotion, forgiveness, and prayer, noting that true faith means trusting in God even during times of difficulty. He concluded by urging them to listen to the voice of God and faithfully uphold the values and mission of the Noble Order of the Holy Cross.
Present at the ceremony were senior members of the Order, including the Noble Grand Master, N/Bro. Damien Amoatin; Past Noble Grand Master, N/Bro. Anthony Kofi Sao, Past Noble Grand Master, N/Bro. Bekoe Palmer-Buckle; Noble Vice Grand Master, N/Bro. Joseph D. Obeng; Noble Scribe, N/Bro. Dominic K. Darkwa; Noble Keeper of the Exchequer, N/Bro. Bernard Quarcoo, and Noble Lecturer, N/Bro. John Kobina Louis; the organizing committee; and all members of the Order whose dedication and support contributed to the success of the programme.
