St. Francis of Assisi, Ashaley Botwe KSJI Supports St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Weija

Members of the Knights of St. John International (KSJI), Commandery No. 833 and Ladies Auxiliary No. 718 of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Ashaley Botwe in Accra, on Sunday, 3rd May 2026, donated 70 bags of cement to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Weija, in support of the church’s development projects.

The donation was made during a solemn Eucharistic celebration attended by members of the Order, parishioners, and invited guests.

In her welcome address, the Chairman of the Church Pastoral Council, Ms. Gladys Ayidiya, commended members of the Knights and Ladies Auxiliary for their dedication and selfless service to God and humanity. She noted that their commitment to charity and support for the Church was truly inspiring.

Delivering the homily based on Acts 6:1-7, Rev. Fr. Dominic Kwame Adjei urged the congregation to embrace the spirit of delegation in order to effectively fulfill their God-given responsibilities. He encouraged groups and societies within the Church to elect leaders of good reputation who are filled with the Holy Spirit.

According to him, even in the early Church, individuals chosen to distribute food were selected based on integrity and spiritual maturity. He further advised Christians to avoid bias and discrimination in their dealings with others at home, at workplaces, and within the Church community.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Church, Ms. Gladys Ayidiya expressed profound gratitude to the Order and appealed for continued support from individuals and societies toward the development of the Church.

The Worthy President of the Commandery, Lt. Augustine Asarfo-Adjei, assisted by the 1st Vice Respected President, Sis. Rejoice Ametepe, officially presented the cement donation.

Lt. Augustine Asarfo-Adjei explained that the gesture formed part of the Order’s core value of charity. He added that the visit was also intended to honour Rev. Fr. Dominic Kwame Adjei on his elevation as Priest-in-Charge of the Church and to support the growth and development of the parish.

Also present at the event were the Accra East Grand Messenger, Captain Prince Yaw King; the 2nd Vice Commander of the 1st Regiment of the 14th District Commandery, Major Jerry Siaw-Lash; the Battalion 1 Commander under the 1st Regiment of the 14th District, Major Maxwell Klu; and the Battalion 1 Inspector, Captain Albert Nyaaku.

Prior to the Holy Mass, there was a parade formation and inspection led by Rev. Fr. Dominic Kwame Adjei alongside the Worthy President, Lt. Augustine Asarfo-Adjei, and the 1st Vice Respected President, Sis. Rejoice Ametepe. The parade was commanded by Captain Dominic Salifu.Story by:
