World Refugee Day: 79.5 million people forced to flee their homes

At least 79.5 million people around the world have been forced to flee their homes. Among them are millions of refugees, more than half under the age of 18, according to the United Nations.

Currently there are millions of stateless people, to whom the bureaucracy prevents a nationality, as well as access to basic rights such as education, health, employment and circulation.

Regularizing is a legal process in a country; receive documentation, have access to bank accounts, have connectivity. These are aspects that may seem less obvious and we can take for granted, since we have an identity document, we can go online and we have a bank account, but if you do not have these things, which are often difficult for refugees, there is no hope. of inclusion ”.

In addition, the UN, together with financial institutions, are working on aid programs for the economies of countries after situations of blockade.

Of the 79.5 million people forced to flee their homes worldwide, 68% of the refugees come from 5 countries: Syria, Venezuela, Afghanistan, South Sudan and Myanmar.
