The Pope prays the Angelus accompanied by sick children from the hospital

This is the first time that the Pope has appeared in public, almost a week after his colon operation last Sunday, July 4. 

It was from a balcony of the Gemelli Polyclinic, very close to his room.

The Pope did not need help to walk, he looked good, and was always on his feet. Although at first he was heard with a slightly weak voice.

We all need, sooner or later, this “oil” of closeness and tenderness, and we can all donate it to someone else, with a visit, a phone call, a hand extended to those who need help .   

Francis praised the Italian health system, which is free for all citizens, and asked for everyone’s collaboration to maintain this model.

And let us pray for all the sick, some sick little friends accompany me. Why do children suffer? Why do children suffer is a question that touches the heart. Accompany them with prayer. Pray for all the sick . 

Before returning to his room, he said that he is praying for Haiti, where the president was assassinated a few days ago; and recalled that these days the Church prays especially for those who work on the high seas, far from home and family. 

In addition, he asked to take care of the oceans, and specifically not to throw plastics into the sea.
